Mobius Works closes 2019-20 financial year on £6.8m turnover

Year-end figures are up 30% from 2018-9

Mobius Works has rounded off it’s 2019-20 financial year with a turnover of £6.8m; up £2m on the previous year’s figures.

This financial year saw Mobius Works lead on a wide range of projects, which have included Star Pubs, Two Rivers and Mitchells & Butler in the hospitality sector. Restaurant fit outs include Bandook, Seven Lucky Gods and WokyKo, and the company continues to be the lead contractor at Cargo Wapping Wharf in Bristol.

Commercial projects included Gather Round, the Loungers café chain’s headquarters and Gardiner Haskins’ retail space and offices, while Mobius also took the lead on the major North Bristol Baths refurbishment as well as working for an Aerospace client.

Planned and preventative maintenance services have been added this year with programmes in place for Two Rivers and Star and this looks to be an area of growth for 2021.

Keen to contribute to the community year-round, Mobius Works has committed to raising £10,000 for Empire Fighting Chance in 2020 through 10 challenges – some of which are now being completed virtually. More recently, we have played our part in the coronavirus crisis by utilising our 14-strong fleet of commercial vehicles and drivers to deliver food for Social Care leavers and to supply surplus PPE to the NHS.

During the year, we have grown the team with some key appointments: commercial director, Mark Shortland, business development manager, James Barnacle, quantity surveyor, Paul Abbott, and senior contracts manager, Alex Reeves. We have also invested in training for all staff as have appointed two more apprentices taking our headcount to 49 staff. Just three years ago Mobius Works began life with a headcount of three.

“We’re pleased to end the financial year in such a strong position,” comments Lee Bignell, founder and MD of Mobius Works. “These are obviously challenging times, not just for the industry but for the country and wider world, so it’s important to have a great base and a fantastic team in place to drive our business forward. During lockdown we haven’t been resting on our laurels but helping in practical ways, such as offering our fleet and drivers and surplus PPE to the NHS.”
